Tip #5 of the UFit Nutrition Atlas: Drink more water!

Our bodies are 60+ percent water. Obviously folks, this means you should drink water and plenty of it! Our bodies are continually using that water for processes within our body and as our bodies interact with the environment.

If you aren’t drinking enough water, your potential for injury and illness goes up significantly. Dehydration affects the elasticity of our skin and our muscles. Without water in your system, those creams and lotions are going to have one heck of a time doing their job. As you lose water, your blood becomes more viscous, making your blood pressure rise to meet the demand you are putting in your cardiovascular system. Another major effect of dehydration is that your electrolytes become out of balance and can greatly impair your fitness abilities.

A helpful hint for those that need a little flavor in their lives, is to put a little fruit in your glass. Infusing your water with lemon, strawberries, cucumbers, mint or any number of combinations will tackle that flavor while keeping you hydrated all day!

Infusion Suggestions: Grape Strawberry Lime infused, Mango Mint infused, Strawberry Lemon infused, Apple Cinnamon infused, Cucumber Jalapeño Mint infused, Lemon and Apple cider vinegar
